Model(s): CUEPAR X1B, CuePar X2

Change of Wireless Chipset & Control Protocol Functionality

CuePar X1B and CuePar X2 static LED fixtures manufactured on or after July 1st, 2026 will now be equipped with a LumenRadio CRMX wireless chip. This change is being made because the previous wireless transceiver chipset used to support selective multi-protocol operation in these fixtures has been discontinued by the component supplier and is no longer available or supported.

Due to this change, standalone Wireless fixture linking (Wireless Master/Slave operation) is no longer available

Reason for Change

The wireless transceiver chipset previously integrated into the CuePar X1B and CuePar X2 that allowed for selective CRMX, W-DMX and 2.4GHz protocols has been discontinued by the component manufacturer. With no available replacement, Volux has qualified and adopted the LumenRadio® CRMXchip wireless DMX module as the replacement receiver for both fixtures going forward.

Key Technical Notes

• LumenRadio CRMX will become the primary wireless DMX protocol supported on these fixtures.

• W-DMX G3 and G4S wireless protocol is backwards compatible with the new CRMX chipset. VOLUX recommends genuine LumenRadio® transmitters for best performance.

• 2.4GHz wireless protocol standalone wireless master/slave functionality is discontinued on affected units.

• Wired DMX512 / RDM operation via standard 5-pin XLR is unaffected by this change.

Wireless Standalone Functionality Discontinued

The LumenRadio CRMX module installed in place of the prior chipset does not support wireless master/slave (fixture-to-fixture wireless linking) operation. Any show design, programming workflow, or plot that currently relies on wireless master/slave grouping between CuePar X1B and/or CuePar X2 units will need to be revised. New units can no longer be equipped with a chipset that supports this functionality.

Recommendations for Dealers, Integrators, and End Users

• Verify the wireless module type of in-stock and on-order inventory before deploying units into installations that depend on wireless master/slave grouping.

• Confirm CRMX transmitter/console compatibility (LumenRadio CRMX-compatible wireless DMX transmitter or console) for any new installation using affected units.

• Update show files, patch documentation, and rigging plots that reference wireless master/slave grouping on CuePar X1B or CuePar X2 fixtures.

• Contact Volux Lighting technical support with the fixture serial number or fixture RDM ID if wireless module type cannot be confirmed visually or via fixture menu.

Parts and Service Availability

• An alternate W-DMX/2.4Ghz chip is available to support warranty and service claims.

• Confirm current Wireless DMX or Fixture Linking protocol with your support representative to verify compatibility.

• Existing fixtures with the preceding chip cannot be upgraded.
